Beholders continue to live their lives of mutual distrust and dislike deep in the caves of the steppes. They have met the Myconids, but found little use for what they offered in trade. Selfish to the core, they are most likely to worship Ra’a if anyone. They are very keen to impose the gift of law on other races, to keep them away from their lands.
As the keepers of the gift of law, beholders are consummate rule-creators, keepers and breakers. They are capable of analysing the nature of a legal or rules system, and discovering all its flaws. They are fastidious to the point of pedantry in terms of order, although they are hardly what could be called obsessive or compulsive – their gift extends both to the letter and the spirit of a rules system. There is no other race who can so finely understand the intricacies of and purpose of laws, to the point where a decision made by an eye tyrant on a matter of law could be considered final.
